How to Apply for a UK Priority Visa Overseas: How Does This Work?

You can use UK Visas and Immigration’s Priority Visa – Non-Settlement for your visit, work, or study application if you require your visa quickly.

How long will it take to get a decision?

Within 5 working days of receiving your biometric information, UK Visas and Immigration hopes to reach a judgment on your Priority Visa application and contact you to let you know that your passport is available to be picked up. However, every application is different, and if yours isn’t easy, you might not be able to fulfill this deadline. If this is the case, your application will be prioritized at every level of the decision-making process, and UK Visas and Immigration will strive to handle your application in accordance with international customer service standards. It’s possible that your application will be complicated if you have:

  • been refused a visa to enter the United Kingdom, and/or
  • been refused permission to enter the United Kingdom, and/or
  • have been deported, removed, or otherwise forced to leave the United Kingdom, and/or
  • stayed in the UK for an extended amount of time, and/or
  • had their right to stay in the UK revoked by the Home Office, and/or
  • The Home Office has denied you permission to stay in the UK, and/or a visa to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United States of America, or the Schengen countries have been denied, and/or
  • You have been questioned, detained, or prosecuted by the police in the UK or elsewhere for any crime, and/or
  • you have an unfinished criminal sentence in any country, and/or
  • In any country, you have committed a criminal offense.
  • you have been convicted of a crime in any country, and/or

In order to finish your visa application, you will need to examine or obtain more information. If you fall into one of these categories, you should avoid using the Priority Visa service since UK Visas & Immigration may not be able to process your application within the 5-day timeframe.
