📄 Step 1: Affirmation of Freedom to Marry
Foreigners must first obtain a statutory declaration stating they are free to marry.
- Get this document from your embassy in Bangkok (e.g., British Embassy)
- Book in advance – most embassies require appointments
- You’ll need your passport and proof of divorce or death certificate if previously married
📝 Step 2: Translation into Thai
Once you have your affirmation, it must be translated into Thai by a certified translation office.

You must have both your affirmation and translation legalised:
